When you get regular oil changes for your Mazda car, you have likely been asked what type of oil you prefer. We know that this can be a difficult question if you haven’t read up on the advantages and disadvantages of different oil blends.

Here at Tumminia Mazda, our mechanics are happy to explain the differences between the types of oil that we use for our oil changes.

Full-Synthetic Oil

Synthetic motor oil is manufactured in a factory or a lab. Due to this, it tends to be more consistent and better for your car’s engine. It also tends to last longer, going for longer periods of time than conventional motor oil. The downside to full-synthetic oil is that it costs a little more than conventional motor oil.

Conventional Motor Oil

If you drive an older model Mazda CX-5, conventional oil may be your best option. Also known as standard motor oil, conventional oil is manufactured from crude oil that’s pulled from the ground and then refined in a factory.

The biggest upside to conventional oil is its low cost. However, because of its natural materials, they tend to be less refined and may not last as long.

Synthetic Blend Oil

Synthetic blend oil serves as a middle ground between full-synthetic and conventional motor oil. It offers some of the benefits of both while reducing their drawbacks.

This type of oil provides better protection and performance than conventional oil but is not quite as good as synthetic oil. Cost-wise, it lies in between the aforementioned motor oil costs.
