Recalls can seem stressful but may only require a quick check-in with our Mazda service team. Below, Tumminia Mazda covers why recalls are issued and what to do if you receive one.

What Is a Recall?

A car recall happens when the NHTSA or manufacturer decides that certain aspects of a vehicle’s performance do not meet safety standards. Every model undergoes rigorous inspection before it leaves the factory, but sometimes safety issues are not apparent until a model logs significant mileage. The faulty part may be small or large, but it is always worth taking seriously.

How You’ll Be Notified

Within 60 days of a vehicle recall, you will receive a letter informing you of the issue and how it can be resolved. It will also state how long the repair will take and when it will become available. Repairs because of a recall never cost anything, so there’s no reason to worry about an added expense.

How to Respond to a Recall

Your manufacturer has three options for responding to a recall: they can offer you a repair, a replacement, or a refund. If the part needs to be repaired or replaced, our service team will solve the issue. In the rare event that the fault requires a refund, you’ll receive the cost of your vehicle back minus any deprecation. Regardless, if you have already paid for repair services for a part that is ultimately recalled, you may be eligible for a refund on those services, too.
