With go-anywhere functionality and an interior as stylish as it is comfortable, the 2024 Mazda CX-30 is a subcompact SUV for the discerning driver. But how does it compare to competing vehicles like the 2024 Honda HR-V? Courtesy of Tumminia Mazda, here are some of the most important differences between these two SUVs and why one is a clear winner in this face-off.
Performance and Functionality
The 2024 Mazda CX-30 has a decisive performance advantage. This is partly thanks to its powertrains, a 191-horsepower base engine, and a turbocharged upgrade engine producing 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. The Honda HR-V offers only one engine, which produces 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, falling far short of the Mazda SUV’s output.
There’s more, however. Many SUVs in the subcompact class don’t offer all-wheel drive, so we’ll credit Honda for making it an option in the Honda HR-V. However, if you’d rather not pay extra for it, the Mazda CX-30 has standard i-Activ® AWD.
Technology
Both contenders offer ample convenience and safety technology. However, some of the standard i-Activsense® safety features, such as blind spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert, are optional or missing in the Honda HR-V. The Mazda CX-30 also boasts an available 10.25-inch infotainment display, which is noticeably larger than the nine-inch upgrade unit that’s optional in the Honda HR-V.
