With endless functionality and rugged off-road capability, the 2024 Mazda CX-50 has quickly become one of the most trusted SUVs on the market. But how does it fare next to the hotly-anticipated 2025 Mazda CX-70? Courtesy of Tumminia Mazda, here’s a guide to how these two exceptional SUVs compare to one another.

Performance

While both SUVs come equipped with i-ACTIV AWD® and are powered by precision-engineered SKYACTIV®-G engines, their differences become apparent upon closer examination. The 2.5-liter powertrain of the 2024 Mazda CX-50 produces 187 horsepower, which is increased in turbocharged editions to 227 horsepower.

By comparison, the 2025 Mazda CX-70 is built with muscle in mind, featuring a mild-hybrid engine that can reach 340 horsepower in the 3.3 Turbo Premium trim. This power is put to good functional use, allowing the all-new Mazda CX-70 to tow up to 5,000 pounds compared to its cousin’s 3,500-pound maximum towing capacity.

Functionality

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 remains a supremely functional SUV, and its performance comes with excellent fuel economy. The Mazda CX-70 is only slightly less efficient, but the tradeoff is that its cargo area is considerably more spacious. It has a maximum cargo volume of 75.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down compared to the 56.3 cubic feet in the Mazda CX-50, giving you more options when you need to haul in bulk.
